That Ain't Chicken Feed!

Driving all the way to Carlton through nasty "winter" weather paid off big for
Nick, the Chicken King of Bethel.

Respect, Responsibility, Reverence

That's the motto of the COSP Altar Server Corp. Y'all would have been proud of them last Sunday when they had a "man down." (A fellow server in uniform who needed to leave suddenly due to illness.) Before any moms in attendance even had time to shoo potential replacements back to the sacristy, several of them had silently seen the need and gone back of their own accord. It was a pretty impressive response and they all got a thank you email from the program coordinator the next day.

Your Opinion Matters

The surveys are here and apparently my opinion matters! Church is wondering how strongly I agree or disagree with statements such as:
  • The Mass is celebrated with great joy and reverence.
  • Reconciliation is made available with sufficient frequency.
  • The Youth Groups have provided my teen(s) with good role models and caring individuals who can listen to and encourage them in their life's journey.
  • The Sanctuary is warm, inviting and helps me focus on the Liturgy.
  • The Music Ministry enhances the worship experience.
  • Within the Sanctuary I would like to see more spiritual/religious images to help me meditate and pray.
  • The Adoration Chapel provides an excellent environment in which to worship and adore Jesus.
  • Overall, the church environment has a holy and peaceful feel.
Also:
If there were one thing that you would like to see the parish start doing, what would it be and why?
If there were one thing that you would like the parish to stop doing, what would it be and why?
What does the ideal parish look like?
Describe how the church environment contributes to your spiritual growth when you are here?
What are some challenges you see that need to be addressed within our church community?

Email me your comments ladies. I'd be glad to include them.

Happy Easter!

That's all. I just wanted to share the photo of Emily's last day with the St. Paul Cathedral Liturgical Choir.

I know I should be working on my homework, but this quote from one of my global warming articles just begs to be blogged:
As early as next year widespread flooding by a rise in sea levels will create major upheaval for millions.

"Oh no!", you say, "Whatever will we do, when in the year 2009 the world will see certain disaster through flooding?" But wait, this article isn't from this year. Or last year. Or even the year before. It's from February 2004. Yes, I realize that it says "as early as", so technically, it's not wrong. However, considering that the prof told us that "every single time scientists have predicted something, they've always been too conservative and come up short. Every single time", well.... I'll haave to conclude that (*gasp*) he's full of it.

Life Imitates Art

... or Why Shakespeare is Timeless. Consider the events of the past week or so:

We have lovely Hero; innocent and pure in every way.
Trusting in the one to whom she has given her heart.

And then there's Claudio; pure of intent, but a little clueless.
Easily misinterprets ... well, just about everything, including himself.

We have quite a few actors playing the parts of Beatrice and Benedick.
Not this scene, however; they all want to play the chapel scene where vengeance is passionately demanded and promised.
O God, that I were a man. I would eat his heart in the market-place.
Dear Hero's good name must be restored.

We even have a remorseful Claudio posting an epitaph of sorts.

The questions still remain:
Will anyone seek advice from Friar Francis?
Will Claudio understand the full impact of his actions?
Will Don John ever change his facial expression?

But masters, remember that I am an ass:
though it be not written down, yet forget not that I am an ass.
